Sports facilities getting an upgrade
Buckhurst Park is being transformed — a new sports pavilion managed by Swindon Robins FC, a new skate park, and improved playing fields. A proper community space, right on your doorstep.
Swindon received a total of £88,068 of Sport England funding in 2024/25. Funding streams such as the Movement Fund, Small Grants and School Games funding have enabled a broad range of sport and physical activity related projects that have benefitted schools, clubs, facilities and community organisations to get active and tackle inequalities.
Culture and creativity, invested in
Government funding is revitalising Sussex Place, with Walcot Community Shop – a charity supporting local causes – at its heart.
A town investing in its young people
The old Lyndhurst Centre in Park North has been completely rebuilt. A £3.8 million government grant has turned it into The Base — which includes a gym, music booths, a hair and beauty hub, an alternative education facility and kitchen facilities. Somewhere for young people to develop skills, stay active and find new opportunities.
Four schools have joined the free breakfast club programme. Two new school-based nurseries are opening. Real futures, being built here.
